Berkshire Hathaway’s Worst Stock Performance This Century Amid Market Surge
Berkshire Hathaway's stock performance has lagged dramatically behind the broader market, posting month-to-date losses just under 1% while Wall Street's alpha index surged over 9%. This underperformance marks the widest gap recorded in 2026, with B shares now trailing the index by 9.7%.
The decline began May 2, 2025, when shares hit record highs just before Warren Buffett announced his CEO departure. Since then, both share classes have dropped more than 12%, with prices barely 3% above August lows - a stark contrast to the market's recovery.
All eyes now turn to Berkshire's upcoming shareholder meeting, coinciding with the release of "The Complete Financial History of Berkshire Hathaway, Second Edition" on April 28.
